} and other noted persona descended on the Redmond campus today for a grand
} gala as The Microsoft Corporation celebrated the roll-out of the newest 
} addition to the Microsoft Home package -- Microsoft Santa 95.
}       "Thanksgiving has always been the traditional beginning to
} the holiday season" said Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.  "We felt it was
} only fair to our customers to give them this tool so they can be more
} productive through the often stressful winter season. Microsoft Santa 95
} works through seamless integration with the Microsoft Network.  Many have
} said that the Internet needed a 'killer app' to gain public approval, and
} Microsoft has always striven to provide the best applications for the
} public's needs."
}       The initial reaction to Santa 95 shows that it indeed may be the
} 'killer app' for the public.  Reviews from across the industry have been
} overwhelmingly positive, and a feel-good atmosphere abounded at the
} roll-out gala yesterday, as Gates even took some good-natured ribbing
} from comedian and _Tonight_Show_ host Jay Leno, who, appearing at the gala,
} quipped that Santa 95 "now requires sixteen reindeer instead of just eight!"
}       "It's really a very simple interface," said Microsoft design team
} leader Dexter Douglass.  "Santa 95 will appear on the screen, and a child will
} use Microsoft Word, or the now available extension to Microsoft Bob, to

} the gifts best suited to the child's needs and desires, and purchases the
